Orthognathic Surgery

Orthognathic Surgery is a treatment method applied to adults with skeletal jaw problems. The orthodontist and maxillofacial surgeon plan the case together.

Orthodontic Surgery Applications

• In case of correction of anterior-posterior and up-down disorders of the lower and upper jaws,
• In case of deterioration of the relationship between the jaws as a result of trauma,
• In facial asymmetries,
• Especially in cases where the upper gums are seen too much,
• It is done in cases with cleft lip and palate.

Orthodontic surgery applications are performed in three stages:

• Pre-Surgical Orthodontic Treatment: The model, film and other records of the patients are taken and the case is planned according to the situation during the operation, tooth extractions are performed if necessary, the dental arch and jaw are prepared for the operation. By performing the necessary model surgery, the operation arcs to be used during the operation are prepared.
• Surgical Operation: Oral, dental and maxillofacial surgeon performs the operation under the guidance of the plates given by the orthodontist and fixes the jaws with surgical chines by making them ideal.
• Post-Surgical Orthodontic Treatment: After the jaws are in their ideal position, minor tooth movements are applied.
