Reinforcement treatment is the most important phase of orthodontic treatment. After the orthodontic treatment applied by planning a proper diagnosis and treatment, reinforcement treatment is started.
Teeth move during orthodontic treatment. At the end of the treatment, reinforcing treatment is applied to prevent these teeth from returning to their original places. Reinforcement treatment is done with lingual arch, palatal arch, hawley plate, clear essix (sx) plates. With the application of reinforcing devices, bone tissue is formed around the tooth roots and the teeth are fixed in their new places. If patients have a jaw disorder at the beginning of the treatment, devices such as headgear and chinrest should be used until the growth ends. In addition, it is necessary to take a panoramic film from the patients towards the age of twenty and perform wisdom tooth controls. There is no need for any intervention if the wisdom teeth will be able to drive comfortably and take their place in the dental arch. However, if the wisdom teeth do not fully erupt and will exert negative force on the dental arch, they should be sent to the maxillofacial surgeon to ensure that they are removed.
